In architectural photography, several kinds of image sound alike but serve entirely different ends. 建物が完成した時点で、その姿を記録するために撮影する写真。設計の意図がもっともよく現れている状態を残すことが目的で、記録としての正確さと、媒体で使える表現の両方が求められます。設計事務所・施工会社のどちらからも依頼があり、竣工後の広報、実績紹介、雑誌やウェブへの掲載に用いられます。
A photograph made when a building is completed, to record it in the state where the design is most fully present. It asks for two things at once — the accuracy of a record, and an image usable in print and online. Commissions come from both architects and builders, and the results serve publicity, portfolios, and editorial features after handover.
工事が適正に行われていることを示すために、施工の各段階を記録する写真。完成後には見えなくなる部分の記録も含みます。公共工事の撮影要領では竣工時の写真もこの分類に含まれますが、工事完了時点に限定した建物の記録として、本来の工事記録写真とは使用目的が異なるものと整理されており、外部の撮影者に依頼されることが多い前提で書かれています。
Photographs documenting each stage of construction to demonstrate that the work was carried out properly, including parts that become invisible once the building is finished. Public-works photography guidelines place completion photographs within this category, yet treat them as distinct in purpose — a record limited to the moment of completion — and are written on the assumption that an outside photographer is commissioned for them.
工事の進捗と施工状況を記録する写真。工程の証拠として扱われるため、公共工事の撮影要領では原則として写真の編集が禁じられています（黒板情報の電子的記入を除く）。色や明るさを整えることを前提とする竣工写真とは、求められる誠実さの方向が異なります。
Photographs recording the progress and condition of the work. Because they serve as evidence of process, public-works guidelines forbid editing them (aside from the electronic entry of blackboard information). This is the opposite of completion photography, where adjusting colour and brightness is expected — the two demand honesty in different directions.
賃貸・売買の成約を目的として撮影する写真。広さと設備が伝わることが優先され、短い時間で多くの部屋を押さえます。竣工写真は設計の記録と発信を目的とするため、撮影に費やす時間も、要求される精度も別のものになります。
Photography aimed at closing a rental or sale. What matters is conveying floor area and fittings, and many rooms are covered quickly. Completion photography exists to record and communicate the design, so the time spent on a single frame — and the precision required — belong to a different order entirely.
建築の内部空間そのものを対象とする写真。空間の構成、光の入り方、素材の質感を主題とします。

家具・照明・什器などのしつらえを主題とする写真。スタイリングによる演出の比重が高くなります。内観写真と重なる場面も多くありますが、主役が空間なのか、置かれたものなのかで分かれます。
Photography whose subject is the furnishing — furniture, lighting, fixtures — with a greater weight on styling. It overlaps with interior space photography, but the two divide on a single question: whether the protagonist is the space, or the things placed within it.
見上げて撮ると建物の垂直線が上すぼまりに写ります。これを補正するのが「あおり補正」ですが、垂直を機械的に立てきるべきか、自然なパースを少し残すべきかに唯一の正解はなく、建物ごとに判断します。要点は後処理よりも撮影時にあります。高さのある建物ほどパースがきつくなるため、三脚を全伸ばしにしてアイレベルを限界まで高くとり、見上げる角度そのものを小さくします。補正は最後の微調整で、勝負はカメラの位置で決まります。
Look up at a building and its verticals converge toward the top. Correcting this is keystone correction — but whether to force the verticals perfectly upright or to leave a little natural perspective has no single right answer; it is judged building by building. The decisive part lies not in post-processing but in the shot itself. The taller the building, the harsher the convergence, so the tripod is raised to its full height and the eye level taken as high as it will go, reducing the upward angle at the source. Correction is only the final adjustment; the frame is won at the camera's position.
日没前後、空がまだ色を残しているわずかな時間帯の撮影。建築写真では一つの見せ場として組み込まれることが多く、住宅でも求められます。難しさは、室内の灯りが写り、外壁のディテールも残り、背景の空の色も出ている——その全部が同時に成立する数分を捉えることにあります。時間が短く、光は刻々と変わるため、日中のうちに構図を決めておき、その瞬間を待って撮影します。
Photography in the brief window around sunset, while the sky still holds colour. In architectural work it is often built in as a highlight of the set, and is asked for even on houses. The difficulty is to catch the few minutes in which everything holds at once — interior lights registering, the façade's detail still readable, and colour remaining in the sky behind. The window is short and the light changes by the second, so the composition is fixed during daylight and the moment simply waited for.
同じ位置・同じ画角から、工事の進行を継続して記録すること。要点は撮影そのものよりも、設置時の判断にあります。着工前の状態も、仮設に覆われた工事中も、完成後も同一の画として成立する視点を選び、電源・防水・撮影間隔を長期の無人稼働を前提に決めます。工事が進んでからの位置変更は記録の連続性を失うため、最初の設計がすべてになります。工期は動くものなので、設置日は仮押さえで進めます。
Recording the progress of construction continuously from the same position and the same angle of view. The essential work is not the shooting but the decision made at installation. One chooses a viewpoint that holds as a single image across the bare site, the scaffolded middle, and the finished building, and sets power, weatherproofing, and interval on the assumption of long unmanned operation. Moving the position once work is underway breaks the continuity of the record, so the first setup is everything. Because schedules shift, the installation date is held only provisionally.
一定の間隔で自動的に撮影を繰り返す方式。定点撮影を実現する手段のひとつです。カメラを現場に据え置いて稼働させ、動作確認とデータ回収のために定期的に立ち寄ります。
A method of shooting automatically at fixed intervals — one of the means by which fixed-point documentation is carried out. The camera is left installed and running on site, with periodic visits only to confirm it is working and to collect the data.
上空からの俯瞰や、地上からは撮れない高さの外観を記録する空撮。日本では航空法により、人口集中地区（DID）の上空での飛行に国土交通大臣の許可が必要で、これは私有地や敷地内であっても同じです。都市部の建築はほぼこの区域に入るため、事前の許可取得が前提になります。当事務所は国土交通省の飛行許可（包括申請）を保有し、法令にもとづいて撮影します。DIDは国勢調査に応じて更新され、境界は住所ではなくメッシュデータで判定されます。
Aerial work recording overhead views and elevations at heights unreachable from the ground. In Japan, the Civil Aeronautics Act requires permission from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to fly above a Densely Inhabited District (DID) — and this holds even over private land or one's own site. Almost all urban architecture falls within such a district, so obtaining permission in advance is a precondition. This office holds MLIT flight permission (comprehensive application) and works within the law. DID boundaries are revised with the national census and are determined by mesh data, not by street address.
費用を負担した側に写真の著作権が移る、という説明を見かけることがありますが、日本の著作権法では著作権は原則として撮影した者に発生し、費用の負担だけで移転するものではありません。移転には契約が必要です。実務上の論点は「どの媒体で、どの範囲まで使えるか」という使用許諾の取り決めであり、当事務所では撮影前にこの点をご説明しています。
One sometimes reads that copyright passes to whoever paid for the shoot. Under Japanese copyright law it does not: copyright arises, in principle, with the person who took the photograph, and bearing the cost alone does not transfer it — transfer requires a contract. The real question in practice is the licence: in which media, and to what extent, the images may be used. This office explains that point before the shoot.
